October 1 to 2 2009: 121st IOC Session - part 1

October 1:
Opening Ceremony in the Copenhagen Opera House with HM Queen Margrethe as guest.

October 2:
The IOC elects the 2016 Olympic Games host. The Candidate Cities are Chicago, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid.


October 3 to 5 2009: 13th Olympic Congress


October 7 to 9 2009: 121st IOC Session - part 2

E.g.:

The second part of the Session will see elections for the IOC

• Election of IOC President
• Election of IOC members
• Election of new sports. The IOC is deciding if golf and rugby are the new sports on the Olympic programme from 2016 and ahead.
• At the end of the 121st IOC Session and XIII Olympic Congress, there will be a grand Closing Reception - 'See you in Denmark' - on October 9 2009 in Tivoli Garden.
